I’ve been re-visiting my Cornwall folder and found a few more of these small figures.

The million tiny details within a moment.

(If you’d like to see a few more related to this, then browse through the small figures tag..)

Three Days (Part Five) – Last Night, Some Light..

.

.

There is so much I have left out of this little series and our lovely time here – time, equipment and other factors mean that what I can capture at this stage cannot possibly completely convey the beauty and breadth of this part of Cornwall, and my deep love for it. Some of these are just snapshots really, and a sketch book of ideas I’d like to continue at a later date..there is a wealth of inspiration here. But I hope I have managed to put across some of the essence of the landscape and how I feel about this beautiful place.

I have been visiting Cornwall since I was about 10 years old, but being there with a camera in hand and a photograph in mind was a totally different experience. What I find so fantastic about photography is how it makes you look at every tiny part of everything. It takes you out of yourself and into the details of life around you. I saw everything even more closely – its light, its Atlantic weather, strength, richness, fragility, wild space…too much to mention.  I am even more in love now and plan to go back as as soon as I can..

Thanks so much to Mark and Jess at Gear Farm for giving us such a lovely place to stay!

Three Days (Part three) – Thoughts from the Beach..

.

Extraordinary or ordinary, we know that every experience is fleeting. Moments of true innocence so isolated and rare. Moments that I experience as absolute joy are often embedded with a soft grey  line that recalls to me that familiar grain of the fear of loss. Sometimes I long to make that moment somehow more stone-like and solid, to preserve and remember.

I think that what I felt on the beach this day were ideas, expressions, something from inside leaping outwards, something from outside leaping in..
