Huddle

A quiet moment in the hills..it was a grey and bleak day, the first few days of bleakness that year. I walked around taking photographs and then came across this small group of sheep. It was cold, lonely and wild on that stretch of hill (I love it) and the sheep huddled together, occasionally turning to check me out as I stood quietly at the edge, taking some photographs as they melted up into the hill. (When I got home I thought how great they worked as a sequence and wished I’d stayed longer and taken more!)

There was something so strong and warm about their little group. I thought of them that night, all still up there somewhere, warm bodies protecting themselves and each other in the cold darkness. I thought of the word “Huddle”. And how we all need one.

Somehow this tune embodied the feeling – I hope that the Souncloud link comes up for you here, as I’d love you to hear it with the images – sometimes it wasn’t showing in preview for me..It’s entitled Endless , and it’s from the “Changeless” album by Keith Jarrett and Gary Peacock..one of my absolute favourites..this is the sound of the wild and windy hills in winter to me..
